{"id":10957,"date":"2018-07-11T11:53:13","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T06:23:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.airwhizz.com\/?p=10957"},"modified":"2018-07-11T11:53:13","modified_gmt":"2018-07-11T06:23:13","slug":"vadodara-airport-will-soon-switch-solar-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.airwhizz.com\/index.php\/2018\/07\/11\/vadodara-airport-will-soon-switch-solar-power\/","title":{"rendered":"Vadodara Airport Will Soon Switch To Solar Power"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vadodara Airport in Gujrat is all set to go \u2018Green\u2019!<\/p>\n<p>The airport will use clean and natural energy for its day to day operations which will be produced by the newly installed solar power plant.<\/p>\n<p>The power plant, which is located within the airport complex, will generate 675 Kilowatts of power, which will help the airport save around Rs 60 lakh every year on its electricity cost.<\/p>\n<p>According to Vadodara airport director, Mr. Charan Singh, the solar plant will take care of 50 % energy requirements of the airport.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that Airports Authority Of India(AAI) is responsible for building the power plant and a contract worth Rs 3.5 Crores was awarded to a private company to complete the job.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airwhizz.com\/index.php\/2018\/06\/19\/bangalore-airport-solar-powered-2020\/\">they will soon go green<\/a> and have started the expansion work of their solar power plant. You would be proud to know that, Cochin International Airport in India was the first airport in the world to be completely powered by solar energy.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative by AAI to make \u2018Green Airports\u2019 will not only cut down an airport\u2019s operating cost but will also help the environment by reducing carbon dioxide emissions.<\/p>\n<p>We hope that more airports in India follow Vadodara and Bangalore airport\u2019s example to save on electricity and go green.
