Please buckle up\u00a0your seat belts as your pilot attempts to take off on a 1300 feet long runway. No worries though, if you overshoot the runway, your holiday will turn\u00a0into the latest season of\u00a0the TV series\u00a0\u2018Lost\u2019.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Don\u2019t lose hope yet though (unless you\u2019ve googled Lost). Only\u00a0Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) aircrafts are allowed to use the runway.\u00a0So the chances of the aircraft overshooting are slim.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This charmingly named airport has very low-altitude flyover landing approaches. This is largely because one end of its runway is\u00a0extremely close to the shore and beach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a\u00a0special talent for playing hide and seek, it is one of the only airports in the world where planes land directly on the beach. The landing strip goes under during high tide.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Turnarounds are not uncommon as the weather is unpredictable making the conditions very risky to land.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As frightful as\u00a0it\u00a0may be\u00a0to experience these airports first hand,\u00a0we\u00a0must note that the pilots are trained to land in such\u00a0treacherous\u00a0conditions or\u00a0conduct a\u00a0turnaround if the conditions are not optimal.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
